Magic hair brushing solution

After a particularly windy visit to our beachfront playground, our preschooler and I returned home to find a parcel on the doorstep. Knowing it would be our Knot Genie, an American product now available in Australia, I let our son open the parcel, hoping it would add to the hype that we were getting something special for him to use to brush his hair.

Glancing at his crazy locks it was the perfect day to receive the Knot Genie. He has lots of fine, fairly curly hair and hates us brushing it with a normal hair brush. We’ve become lazy about being too insistent so on the day in question we had washed his hair the night before, made a half hearted attempt at brushing it and let it dry naturally. There were several obvious knots.

He looked a little suspicious when we pulled out the turtle shaped brush and immediately wanted to run it along the floor but I managed to keep us on track. Within seconds I got the brush through all of his hair and the knots were gone, and he didn’t squawk once. A few minutes later he was brushing his hair by himself. My only complaint is that we’re so used to not brushing his hair properly that I hardly recognise our smart boy!

The magic behind the Knot Genie is the different lengths of teeth on the brush and the way in which they bend as the brush is pulled through the hair. It detangles without pulling. I tried it on my own hair…no squawking from me either!

Easy to use

Mum received our Knot Genie from It makes sense, an online business run by a mum of two based in Brisbane. It makes sense stock ‘gear for sensitive souls’. One of the leading products they sell, besides the Knot Genie, is Seamless Sensitivity Socks. Seamless Sensitivity Socks help children (and parents of children) who suffer from hypersensitivity, or just can’t stand annoying seams.

It makes sense plan to expand their product range so that families in Australia can have access to well-designed, simple products that make life easier.  In October they will start selling the Tinseltown Silver Knot Genie – a perfect stocking filler for little princes and princesses. The Tinseltown Knot Genie was given away to celebrities at last weekend’s Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, kids using it down under will be in good company.

Children growing up in Australia are likely to be windswept from the coastal air, and may wash and brush their hair more frequently after swimming and other water based activities. Mum recommends the Knot Genie if you have a child who is sensitive to brushing their hair. Thank you to It makes sense for sending us one to review.

Mum hasn’t received payment for writing about the Knot Genie, we liked the brush and are happy to recommend products that will help other parents. If you’d like to share a useful product that has just arrived in Australia, or that is Australian made and \ or designed, please Contact Mum. Thank you.
