Book reviews and author interviews

Regular readers will have realised that Mum loves books; books for me, books for the children, books about Australia, books about Australian relocation…Mum’s Bookstore provides listings of books we recommend.

If you’re also a book lover, and in particular a lover of great children’s literature you should visit the recently launched website: My Book Corner. My Book Corner is run by Emma Perry, a mum who has moved to Australia from the UK. Before taking time out to look after her children, Emma taught English at Secondary School.

My Book Corner was born out of Emma’s desire to discover inspirational and exciting books for her children. The site aims to spark your interests with book reviews on an assortment of children’s literature, ranging from the fun and quirky to the simply inspirational and unforgettable.

My Book Corner’s intention is to carefully select only the truly special books for you to browse through, with a strong, but not exclusive focus on great Australian authors and illustrators.

The books reviewed at My Book Corner have been read multiple times by Emma and her family. Reviews are meaningful and users of the website are encouraged to leave their own reviews, the more the better! Mum has already left a few.

Emma also runs competitions that provide an opportunity to win signed copies of some of the books featured on the site. The next competition will coincide with Mental Health Week (9th – 15th October) when My Book Corner will be featuring Melbourne author and artist Nicky Johnston who has written two books for children who are ‘worriers’ to the extent that it can impact their lives. My Book Cover have two packs to give-away, each one has a signed copy of both of Nicky Johnston’s books, plus a poster – also signed.

My Book Corner is set to become a busy online community, sharing a passion for children’s literature. The site is easy to use and a great place to go to get inspiration for new reads for your children, or book gifts for others.

Visit My Book Corner here: and follow My Book Corner on Facebook.

If you have a business, website, blog or service that will appeal to mums moving to Aus, please email Mum. Thank you.
