It’s Harmony Day in Australia today. Harmony Day is a day when Australians across the country celebrate cultural diversity. Held annually on 21st March, we wrote about the background of Harmony Day last year.

The theme this year is Sport and the colour orange – many of the children we know are heading to school in orange sports clothes and participating in extra games and activities to celebrate the day.

As an immigrant to Australia Harmony Day is a great excuse to reflect on our own cultural heritage as well as the Australian culture we’re adopting. Happy Harmony Day! We hope you have a great day wherever they’re from and wherever you’re now living in Australia.

Here’s a video about Harmony Day 2012 and the importance of sport in Australian life.

Please let us know what your little tangerines are up to today. Thank you.
